DANIEL Johns is 16, wears a uniform, and rides his mountain bike to school. He is also a millonaire and frontman of Australia's most successful recent music export Silverchair.
Johns and fellow musicians Chris Joannu and Ben Gilles have generated an estimated $6 millon worldwide since their debut album Frogstomp was released in April.
But this week, with their record at 12 on the US Billboard charts and after a successful sellout tour in America, the famous Newcastle trio returned to life as usual at Merewether High School - on their bikes.

On Saturday April 19, 2003 Silverchair brought the "Across The Night" tour to their hometown of Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia.
The concert was staged in the ornate and venerable Newcastle Civic Theatre - within walking distance of the band's birthplace. Surrounded by friends and family the group finally got to perform songs from their landmark album, Diorama as well as a selection of earlier works.
Tickets for this unusually intimate show had sold out in less than ten minutes and could not be bought at any price.
As with all dates on this special tour, Silverchair staged the concert over two separate acts. The first set showcased mainly quieter and more experimental material while the second consisted mostly of the heavier rock songs on which the band had built their reputation as an incendiary live act.
For over two hours that night Silverchair created a rare and memorable musical experience live onstage. The four discs (2 CDs and 2 DVDs) that are contained in this package are the next best thing to actually being there.
This boxset was released only in Australia and New Zealand in the standard PAL format, with a limited number of NTSC sets also made available through the band's official online store.
In 2007, Live from Faraway Stables was rereleased in separate double CD and double DVD formats.
